　　Deny/refuse與“拒絕”

　　本組動(dòng)詞都有“拒絕”意思，但用法不同：

　　1、deny含義較廣，有“拒絕、否認(rèn)、不承認(rèn)、節(jié)制、摒棄”等含義。主要搭配如下：

　　①deny +名詞/doing ，意為“否認(rèn)、不承認(rèn)”。如：

　　He didn't deny the facts.他不否認(rèn)事實(shí)。

　　She denied knowing anything about the coming examination.她否認(rèn)她知道關(guān)于下次考試的任何事情。

　　注意：deny不接動(dòng)詞不定式作賓語，但可接不定式作賓語補(bǔ)足語。如：

　　The lawyer denied this to be the case.律師否認(rèn)這是事實(shí)。

　?、赿eny + that從句，意為“否認(rèn)(某事或某說法)”。如：

　　The driver denied that he was responsible for the car accident.司機(jī)不承認(rèn)在這次車禍中的責(zé)任。

　?、踕eny +sb. sth.，意為“拒絕給予”。如：

　　Joseph denied his wife nothing.約瑟夫?qū)ζ拮佑星蟊貞?yīng)。

　?、躣eny + oneself +名詞，意為“拒不、舍棄”。如：

　　The famous poet lived in a quiet countryside and denied himself to any visitors.那個(gè)著名詩人住在安靜的鄉(xiāng)下，不會(huì)見任何來客。

　2、 refuse表示堅(jiān)決甚至無禮貌地拒絕接受某物或做某事;此外，可表示拒絕給予。主要搭配如下：

　?、賠efuse +名詞，意為“拒絕……”。如：

　　He refused my offer of help.他拒絕了我的幫助。

　?、趓efuse sb. sth.，意為“拒絕某人某物”。如：

　　I just can’t refuse my granddaughter anything.我就是無法拒絕我孫女的任何要求。

　　③refuse to do sth.，意為“拒絕做某事”。

　　Some university students from the countryside refused to take any donation. 一些農(nóng)村來的大學(xué)生拒絕接受任何捐款。
