science是可數(shù)的嗎

　　1. 表示一般意義的“科學”或“自然科學”，具有總稱意義，是不可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　Science means honest, solid knowledge. 科學是老老實實的學問。

　　It was one of the greatest discoveries in science. 那是科學上最偉大的一項發(fā)現(xiàn)。

　　漢語說“自然科學”，在一定的上下文可直接用 science 表示，有時也可用 natural science 或 physical science 表示。

　　Do you do science at school? 你在學校里學自然科學嗎?

　　I prefer science to the humanities. 我喜愛自然科學 不喜歡人文科學。

　　We pushed him hard to take up science. 我們極力讓他學習自然科學

　　2. 表示一門科學或自然科學，通常是可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　Biology is a science. 生物學是一門(自然)科學。

　　Psychology and economics are social sciences. 心理學和經(jīng)濟學是社會科學。

　　表示一門或幾門科學，通常是可數(shù)的，但若具體地指明是某門科學且含義較泛時，它仍然是不可數(shù)的。如以下各例，它們都具體指明了是某門科學，由于含義較泛，所以不可數(shù)(注意沒有用冠詞)：

　　political science 政治學 social science 社會科學

　　computer science 計算機科學 medical science 醫(yī)學

　　但是我們可以說：

　　a social science 一門社會科學(因為社會科學包含多門學科)

　　a natural science 一門自然科學(因為自然科學包含多門學科)

　　同樣的道理，我們還可以說(用了復數(shù)和定冠詞)：

　　the natural sciences 各門自然科學

　　the social sciences 各門社會科學

　　3. 用于 the science of, 表示“……學”“……的科學”。如：

　　Physics is the science of matter and energy. 物理學是研究物質和能量的科學。

　　He studies zoology, or the science of animals. 他研究動物學，即關于動物的科學。

　　He made great contribution to the science of engineering. 他對工程學有巨大貢獻。
