1 .Holiday

　　When we say a holiday, we usually a public holiday(公共假日). We mean it is a time of rest at home. We don't go to work, we don't go to school. So:

　　Saturday is a holiday. Sunday is a holiday

　　這是holiday(public holiday)的最好例子。

　　從a rest at home角度，我們可以說Christmas is also a holiday.Right?

. Festival.

　　When we say festival, we also mean a time of rest at home. No work.No school classes.

　　從這個(gè)角度看，Christmas is a festival,too.

　　但是，festival還必須具備另外一個(gè)條件：

　　A festival is a time of rest with some celebrations(慶祝活動(dòng)),either cultural or religious celebrations(宗教的或者文化的慶?；顒?dòng)),like a gala show(狂歡活動(dòng)),like a fireworks show(煙火表演),like a public entertainment(公眾娛樂活動(dòng))(這些詞匯一定要記住喲)

　　從這個(gè)角度看，Saturday and Sunday are not a festival.They are just a holiday.

　　But Christmas is both a holiday and a festival.Spring Festival in China is both a holiday and a festival.

　　我們記住這些英語口語，我們也就基本能告訴別人：What is the difference between a holiday and a festival?
