　　一、Should 表示過去將來時，即從過去觀點看將來要發(fā)生的事，多用于間接引語中。

　　We thought that we should never see you again. 我們想我們再也看不到你了。

　　The BBC weather report this morning said that we should have rain.

　　今天早上，BBC電臺天氣報告說，今天有雨。

　　二、Should 表示義務(wù)、責(zé)任、常譯為“應(yīng)當(dāng)”，“應(yīng)該”，或表示一種估計的情況，譯成“按理應(yīng)當(dāng)”，“估計......”。

　　Why should I pay him? 為什么我該付給他錢?

　　They should be there by now， I think. 我估計，他們現(xiàn)在到那兒了。

　　Should 用于完成時態(tài)，表示對過去發(fā)生的動作的一種推測，譯成“應(yīng)該已經(jīng)......”。

　　You should have washed the wood. (But you haven‘t.) 你應(yīng)該把傷口清洗了。(然而你沒有)

　　三、在某些從句中，should 表示驚異、意外等情緒，常譯為“竟然”。

　　It seems unfair that this should happen to me.真不公平，這件事竟然發(fā)生在我身上。

　　四、當(dāng)陳述部分含有ought to ，其反意疑問句部分，美國英語中用should .

　　She ought to stay here， shouldn't her?她該留在這兒，是嗎?

　　五、用于成語中 I should like to......“我想(做)......”

　　I should like to ask the teacher a question. 我想問老師一個問題。

　　六、"should (not) +have+過去分詞(done)" 對已發(fā)生的事表示遺憾或責(zé)備，表達(dá)"本該或不該"之意?！　∪纾孩貶e also learns that he should have cared more about his friends.他還明白了他本應(yīng)該多關(guān)心朋友。

　?、贖e shouldn't have let out the secret.他本不該泄露秘密的。(實際情況是"他已泄密"。)

　　翻譯：①If he were here, 如果他(現(xiàn)在)在這里的話，我就會告訴他真相。(事實是，他現(xiàn)在不在這里。)

　?、贗f I had been here yesterday, 如果昨天我在這里，我就會好好教訓(xùn)他一頓。(事實是：我沒教訓(xùn)他，因為我昨天沒在這里。teach sb. a good lesson教訓(xùn)某人)
